Atlantic Bank Illuminated Blue in Commemoration of World Diabetes Day

Diabetes Day

On Monday, November 8th, 2010, Atlantic Bank, corner of Freetown Road and Cleghorn Street, Belize City was illuminated in blue to commemorate World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day is celebrated worldwide every year on November 14. Over 160 countries take part in events that promote diabetes advocacy and awareness. These events include a lighting ceremony in which iconic buildings and sites throughout the world are illuminated in blue. The landmark illuminations are testimony to the power of combined efforts to alter the diabetes landscape. They also provide, of course, a strong visual element to attract attention to the diabetes cause.

This year, Atlantic Bank and the Belize Diabetes Association partnered to make Atlantic Bank the first building in Belize to be illuminated in blue. The Belize Diabetes Association facilitated this campaign in Belize. The Belize Diabetes Association, a non-government, non-profit entity has vested itself with the responsibility of providing support for persons living with diabetes, as well as educating the public on how to prevent the unset of this disease. The association is a firm believer that when it comes to diabetes, ‘prevention is better than cure’.

Atlantic Bank encourages the Belize Diabetes Association in its efforts at promoting diabetes advocacy and awareness.
